Substation to Host Open House Today

The Los Angeles Police Department will host an open house at its West Valley Division station today.
The public will be able to tour the jail, meet officers, and participate in a “traffic-safety rodeo,” which will challenge officers and children on a bicycle course.
Youths will also be able to step inside the department’s helicopter, climb on a firetruck and get behind the wheel of a military Humvee. On hand to answer questions will be members of the SWAT team and the mounted horse unit.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 19020 Vanowen St. in Reseda.
