In Empire League boys’ cross-country:
Katella 24, Century 32--Marco Cervantes finished first in 15:55 to lead Katella (3-0 in league) on its three-mile course. Century is 2-1 in league.
In the Sunset League:
No. 4 Edison 20, Esperanza 39--Edison’s Scott Brandos set the Fairview Park course record, finishing first with a 15:56, 21 seconds faster than the previous mark.
In Serra League girls’ cross-country:
Mater Dei 23, Rosary 32--Jenny Sears finished the 3.06-mile course at Acacia Park in a course-record 18:31 as visiting Mater Dei (2-0) remained unbeaten in league.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ golf:
No. 1 University 130, No. 5 Corona del Mar 136--University junior Angela Won had two birdies to finish with a par 36 at Rancho San Joaquin.
In the Sunset League:
No. 9 Los Alamitos 137, No. 10 Esperanza 139--Sophomore Jamie Oliver shot three-over 39 to medal for Los Alamitos at Yorba Linda.
In Century League girls’ tennis:
No. 6 Canyon 12, El Modena 6--Tracy Lin swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, and Heather Hohenstein swept, 6-0, 6-0, 6-2, for host Canyon (9-1, 3-0), which won all nine singles sets.
In the Sea View League:
No. 4 Woodbridge 12, Newport Harbor 6--Susanna Lingman and Elizabeth Exon swept their singles matches for the host Warriors (8-3, 2-0). Newport Harbor is 1-1 in league.
