Two-time champion Ellen Port shot a three-over-par 75 Wednesday to top the 64 match-play qualifiers in the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur at Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach.
Port, of St. Louis, had a three-over 147 total. Brenda Corrie Kuehn of Asheville, N.C., also shot a 75 to qualify second at 149. Kerry Postillion of Burr Ridge, Ill., was third at 150, and defending champion Alissa Herron was tied for fourth at 151.
Also qualifying for match play, which begins today and ends Sunday, were Teri Goolsby of Garden Grove (80-80--160), Marianne Towersey (80-81--161) and Olivia Slutzky (84-78--162).
