ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Mater Dei center Jamal Sampson has official visits scheduled at California and Kansas, Monarch Coach Gary McKnight said.
The 6-foot-11 Sampson, who averaged 13.7 points, 10.6 rebounds and blocked 147 shots as a junior, will visit Cal this weekend and Kansas next weekend.
Sampson already has visited Connecticut and Saint Louis.
GRIFFINS MAKE HIRES
Los Alamitos has hired a boys’ athletic director and a baseball coach.
Cary Brody, a longtime teacher at the school, has taken over the athletic director post vacated in September by Rob Wigod, who left to become an assistant commissioner with the Southern Section. Brody is also a varsity football assistant coach but will relinquish his duties as boys’ and girls’ track coach this spring.
Mark Clabough has replaced Wigod as baseball coach. Clabough coached at Long Beach Wilson the last five years.
