A former San Luis Obispo County engineer has been named the city’s new public works director.
Timothy Nanson, who starts Nov. 6, replaces Ron Coons, who recently became Ventura County’s public works director.
Nanson will be responsible for a department with an operations budget of $36 million and 224 employees, City Manager Mike Sedell said. Before San Luis Obispo County, Nanson worked in Oxnard for 14 years as assistant public works director and director of development services.
“Tim brings to this position a well-rounded background in the many facets of public works management,” Sedell said. “Moreover, he places a strong emphasis on customer service, an important value to this organization.”
Nanson earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Loyola University and a master’s degree in business administration from Cal Lutheran University.
