Ceradyne Awarded 4 Research Contracts

Ceradyne Inc., a Costa Mesa maker of advanced technical ceramics, said Wednesday that it has received four Phase II Small Business Innovation Research contracts covering a two-year period and valued at $2.3 million.
Ceradyne said in a news release that the contracts were awarded by the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy to develop lightweight ceramic armor for military vehicles and to develop Ceradyne’s aluminum nitride compositions to absorb specific microwave energy frequencies.
