Proponents of Measure S, also known as the Greenlight initiative, have endorsed three candidates for the Newport Beach City Council.
They are: Dennis P. Lahey, a candidate for District 2; Patricia M. Beek, running in District 5; and John Heffernan, running in District 7. Each candidate supports Measure S, which appears on the Nov. 7 ballot.
The measure proposes to put before a citywide vote any development that allows an increase of more than 100 peak-hour car trips or developments large enough to require a significant change in the city’s general plan.
A competing initiative, Measure T, called the Traffic Phasing initiative, would nullify Greenlight if it passes.
