LENNOX — A 22-year-old woman was killed in a shooting Sunday night as she stood outside with a group of friends, police said.
Maria Davila and several friends were standing in her frontyard at 4542 W. 111th St. when the shooting occurred at 11:15 p.m., said Deputy Rick Martinez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A vehicle drove up and one of several occupants got out and fired shots toward the group, Martinez said. Davila was the only one hit; it was unknown whether she was the intended target, Martinez said.
She died at the scene. The crime appeared to be gang-related, Martinez said.
