Hoping to strengthen the relationship between parents and their children, the Ventura Unified School District will host a series of weekly classes Oct. 19 through Nov. 16.
The classes, titled “A Time for Parents,” are designed to bolster parent-child relations and help parents motivate their children to succeed in school.
Psychologist Margaret Barker will discuss how to develop effective discipline, identify alcohol and drug-abuse problems, improve family communication and build self-esteem.
The workshop series is sponsored by the adult education division of Ventura Unified School District, along with the district’s middle and high schools.
The class is free and will take place at 6:45 p.m. at Ventura Adult and Continuing Education, 5200 Valentine Road. Parents can preregister by calling 641-5200, or they can enroll at the first meeting.
