$2 Million Boost for eJets Online Charters

An Aliso Viejo start-up company providing luxury charter travel online said Wednesday it has received initial funding of $2 million from ThinkTank LLC, the Internet incubator created by Scott Blum, founder of online retailer Buy.com Inc.
The new company, eJets, said it can book corporate travelers and individuals on about 1,000 aircraft worldwide at its www.ejets.com site. Its competition includes Executive Jet, owned by Berkshire Hathaway Corp., investment guru Warren Buffett’s company.
Many private jet owners rent them for charter flights rather than have the expensive aircraft sit idle. The new company will receive a fee for making such bookings. Taking orders by phone as well as online, eJets also allows customers to buy time-share interests in aircraft, a business in which Executive Jet is the leader.
