City Stresses Public Safety, Projects

This year’s proposed city budget maintains important public safety services while pushing forward on several improvement projects, City Manager Terry Matz said.
More than half of the $11.5 million in revenue for 2000-01 will go toward law enforcement and fire protection. But residents can look forward to several tangible improvements to the city, he said.
Among the proposals in the budget are acquiring playground equipment for parks, setting up an outdoor concert series for summer 2001, adding landscaping on Katella Avenue, adding a stage floor at the Cultural Arts and Recreation Center, and building a skateboard park.
The City Council will hold a public hearing at 6:30 tonight to get input on the proposed budget.
