Shaq Crossed the Line in Filming Disney Ad
- Share via
As a member of the Screen Actors Guild who is in the middle of a strike against advertising agencies, I find really disturbing Shaquille O’Neal’s reasons for making a commercial for Disneyland [“Striking Actors Unhappy Over Shaq’s Disney Spot,” June 21].
Since when is Walt Disney Co. in such dire straits that it needs O’Neal to do a “public service announcement” for Disneyland?
Also, I commend O’Neal for saying that he will not be taking any money for the commercial he shot after the Lakers won the NBA championship but will instead be giving it to charity.
Mr.O’Neal, will that charity be one that actors will be able to benefit from to help pay their bills while they are on strike to earn a decent wage while making commercials?

* Amid the crowd roaring their approval of the Lakers’ NBA championship win, Shaquille O’Neal went from most valuable player to most valuable scab.
It does not matter that the money paid Shaq went to a charity; he crossed the line and betrayed his union brothers and sisters.
