4 in L.A.-Based Film Crew Killed

Four members of a Los Angeles-based film crew were killed when their helicopter crashed into a glacier while shooting an automobile commercial in northwest British Columbia, officials said Friday.
Canadian rescue personnel said the aircraft tumbled into a deep crevasse and burned Thursday after one of its rotor blades apparently clipped the ice. They said the accident occurred as the chopper was being positioned to shoot a car placed on the glacier.
All four people aboard the aircraft died in the crash, officials in Atlin, British Columbia, told Associated Press. Because of difficult terrain, the bodies were not immediately recovered. Identification of the victims was withheld pending notification of relatives.
Venice-based HSI Productions, which has created commercials for AT&T;, Coca-Cola, General Motors, IBM, Nike and Levi Strauss, was handling the filming, the company’s public relations representatives said. The company declined to provide further information.
