A Cal Lutheran University student died early Friday after losing control of his truck in an accident that authorities said may have been caused by a combination of excessive speed and alcohol.
Ryan Baker, 20, of Thousand Oaks was driving a white pickup east on Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks about 12:40 a.m. when he struck the center median. The truck slammed into two trees in the median, ejecting Baker from the vehicle.
Baker, who had just completed his sophomore year as a business major, was rushed to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
A passenger, Michael Desantis, 19, of Thousand Oaks was also taken to Los Robles, where he was treated for minor injuries.
