SAN CLEMENTE

The city’s police services will begin ticketing all cars parked on “improved, continuous sidewalks,” and all cars that extend out into the street past the width of a car parked parallel on the street.

The City Council clarified the parking policy at its meeting Wednesday.

A continuous sidewalk is defined in the ordinance as a sidewalk that runs unobstructed for the entire length of a block.

The initial policy was unclear on the definition of a continuous sidewalk and enforcement led to many complaints, especially from residents and business owners on Avenida Victoria.
