Teachers’ ongoing salary negotiations with the Newport-Mesa Unified School District have been put on hold this week while their young charges graduate and finish the school year, but the discussions are by no means over.
Although they did not reach an agreement by Friday as anticipated, both parties said they have made some headway.
While teachers would have liked to have resolved the issues before school let out for the summer, they are optimistic an agreement can be reached before school begins in the fall.
