* The number of Americans filing new unemployment benefit claims edged up unexpectedly last week, suggesting that the supercharged economy may be slowing a bit. For the week ended June 17, new claims for jobless benefits rose by 5,000 to 302,000, the Labor Department said. Economists generally had expected a small decline.
