Serb Couple Shot on Kosovo Street

A Kosovo Serb couple were shot and seriously wounded on a street in central Pristina, the first such incident in the provincial capital in months, the NATO-led Kosovo Force said. The Tuesday night shooting coincided with the visit of Carla del Ponte, chief prosecutor for the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. The attack was seen as a serious setback to the security situation in Pristina, which is now predominantly ethnic Albanian and has seen a gradual easing of tensions in recent weeks. A spokesman for the Kosovo Force said both the man and the woman were in stable condition.
