The City Council has taken a number of steps toward making the newly incorporated community as independent as possible.
Last week, the council adopted a balanced budget, retained the services of a law firm, appointed members of the first Planning Commission, selected a head of police services and hired a firm to act as the city’s engineering department.

Rivera, who worked with the city manager to expand sheriff’s patrols in the community, has been unofficially serving in the capacity since the city approved a new contract with the Sheriff’s Department.
