City officials have decided to create a permanent and formal policy for offering rewards in exchange for information on major crimes committed in the city.
The rewards will be offered only when all possible leads have been exhausted by investigators and will not be available to any law enforcement officers, Police Department employees, any other city employees or their immediate relatives.
The rewards will be given only when the responsible parties have been arrested and convicted.
City officials recently decided to offer $20,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for the stabbing of 22-year-old Jaime Avalos-Morales, who was killed two months ago while walking down Melody Lane.
