SHERMAN OAKS — The head of an independent film company remained hospitalized in serious condition Monday, a day after he was shot in the neck, allegedly by his 20-year-old wife, police said.
Julian Caine, 34, of Sherman Oaks, chairman of Caine Entertainment Inc., was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center early Sunday. His injuries are not life-threatening, police said, and he is able to communicate.
“He told us he is involved in the movie business,” said Det. Dan O’Hanian of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Division. “He is not doing that bad. I talked to him for over an hour.”
His wife, Amy Caine, was booked Sunday in Van Nuys jail on suspicion of attempted murder, police said.
Police would not disclose a motive for the shooting.
The incident began at 12:48 a.m. Sunday when officers responded to a domestic violence call at the couple’s Sherman Oaks home. Police said they found Caine had been shot in the neck and arrested his wife.
Before founding his own company, Caine worked as the senior accountant for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s production accounting department from October 1997 to August 1998, MGM officials said.
Caine Entertainment produces low- to mid-level-budgeted motion pictures, television and multimedia products, according to the company’s Web site.
