The redesign and renovation of Casa Romantica is the top priority as the City Council goes into budget discussions beginning tonight.
Casa Romantica, home of the late city founder Ole Hanson, tops a list of “vital few priorities” that city staff has highlighted as being the most critical in the proposed budget for fiscal year 2000-01.
The council will consider final approval of $4.6 million in new projects Wednesday.
Among the priority projects: hiring an environmental engineer, establishing a beach advisory board, rail corridor safety improvements, El Camino Real downtown enhancements, and an urban runoff management plan.
The proposed budget is available for review at City Hall and the San Clemente Regional Library, 242 Avenida Del Mar.
The council will host workshops tonight and Tuesday. The meetings will begin at 6 p.m. in the council chamber at City Hall, 100 Avenida Presidio.
