Old Flags

* Re “School’s Banners Finally Spangled With All 50 Stars,” June 14: I got a strong feeling of deja vu when I read about the flag problem at Calabash Street Elementary School in Woodland Hills. Having taught there from 1965 to 1990, I had gone through the “outdated flag” trauma at least twice. We were told to dispose of the old flag and fly the new one. Only trouble was that nobody told us how to get rid of the old one! So, no one did dispose of them. Over time, old flags would resurface from cupboards. The trauma returns.
