Oxnard resident Nathan Singer died at home Thursday after a brief illness. He was 79.
Singer was born May 6, 1921, in Malden, Mass., and moved to Ventura County in 1975.
Singer and his wife, Faye, opened the county’s first Big and Tall Men’s Clothing Store in the mid-1970s in Oxnard and eventually owned a small chain of the stores.
In his free time, Singer was a craftsman. He also enjoyed traveling. His family said Singer had a sense of humor and a zest for life.
Singer is survived by his wife of 53 years; two sons, Bob Singer of Oxnard and Bruce Singer of Camarillo, and three granddaughters and a grandson.
Private services were held at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. Rabbi Lisa Hochberg-Miller of Temple Beth Torah officiated.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Singer’s name to a favorite charity.
Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura handled the arrangements.
