Televangelist Severs Foursquare Ties

The Rev. Clarence E. McClendon, pastor of the Church of the Harvest International in Los Angeles and a televangelist, has severed denominational ties with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel.
McClendon and the denomination said the split resulted from “philosophical differences.”
McClendon’s spokesman, Elder Louis Mellini, said the church has 8,000 members and was holding six standing-room-only services each week at its West Adams Boulevard and La Brea Avenue location. Recently, McClendon moved his meetings to the Hollywood Palladium, which McClendon hopes to buy.
