A Panorama City woman who abused her young children while under the influence of drugs was sentenced to six months in jail and ordered to stay away from the youngsters, city officials said Thursday.
Tina Bernadette Harris may see her children only with the permission of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, officials said.
Harris, 27, was also sentenced to four years’ probation.
She pleaded no contest to two counts of child abuse and one count of being under the influence of a controlled substance in Van Nuys Superior Court on Wednesday.
Harris was arrested Monday at a Panorama City apartment complex after witnesses told police they saw her violently shaking her daughter.
As part of her sentence, Harris will have to attend parenting classes and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. Her 2-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy have been placed in a foster home.
