FOUNTAIN VALLEY

Pop Music
Amid the many blues-rock hybrids that came out of England in the mid-’60s, keyboardist Brian Auger decided to try fusing rock and jazz, not an especially common practice then. That led to his Oblivion Express Band, which eventually arrived at the destination of its name. In recent years Auger has been mining the blues, for a while touring with singer Eric Burdon, now teaming with former Joe Cocker singer Kathy McDonald, who will be with him for a Father’s Day show in Fountain Valley.
* Brian Auger, Abilene Rose, 10830 Warner Ave., Fountain Valley. 7 p.m. $8. (714) 963-1700.
