Bim Okunrinboye, a former Sonora High guard, has signed with San Jose State, his club basketball coach, Oscar Abreu, said.
Okunrinboye committed to Pepperdine out of high school in 1999 but did not achieve a qualifying score on college entrance exams. He was a part-time student this past year at San Joaquin Delta College, where he worked out with the men’s basketball team but did not play.
He subsequently achieved a qualifying score on the SAT and will have four years of college eligibility, according to Abreu.
Okunrinboye began his high school career at Sunny Hills. He made 81 of 90 free throws in his senior season at Sonora.
