James Elsasser will begin serving as the new principal of Oak Middle School next month, replacing Barbara O’Conner, who has been named principal of the Orange County High School of the Arts in Santa Ana. Elsasser has been vice principal of East Middle School in the Downey Unified School District since 1996. Before that he served as a music teacher at other middle schools in that district.
