“A 1999 Beckman Vineyards Grenache ‘Purisima Mountain.’ There’s been only 125 cases produced, nobody’s ever seen it, but it’s interesting because it comes from the middle of the Santa Ynez Valley . . . and I think it’s a look into the future at how good Grenache can be. It was huge, dark, rich, complex, and it’s different. You don’t see Grenache like that typically. We’re just starting to see rumblings of what will happen in Santa Barbara County.”
