The Lakers’ dramatic victory over Portland on Sunday drew an L.A. rating of 29.4 with a 51% share of the audience and a national overnight rating of 14.5 with a 23 share.
The 14.5 is a record for a Game 7 of the Western Conference finals. The old overnight record was a 13.7 for Utah-Seattle in 1996, which had a 24 share.
In Portland, the nation’s 23rd largest market, the game drew a 41.8 rating and a 68 share.
Based on the overnight rating, NBC estimates 40 million people watched at least part of the game, and in L.A., an estimated 3.7 million watched the game.
