Modesto Holds Off Lancaster

Juan Silvestre hit a home run and Travis McClendon had a run-scoring double, but Lancaster never led in a 4-2 loss to Modesto in a California League game Monday at The Hangar.
Justin Hall’s three-run home run in the third inning gave Modesto (35-23) a 3-0 lead until Silvestre’s solo shot for the JetHawks (31-26) made the score 3-1 in the fourth. McClendon drove in Lancaster’s last run in the sixth to pull the JetHawks within 3-2, but Modesto added an insurance run in the ninth.
Mario Ramos (3-5) struck out four and walked none in seven innings to earn the victory. Enmanuel Ulloa (3-3) took the loss.

Modesto defeated Lancaster, 12-3, in the series opener on Sunday before a crowd of 5,023. The A’s collected 18 hits and Jesus Basabe, Miguel Olivio and Ryan Ludwick each drove in three runs.
Justin Lehr (8-1) went six innings, scattering nine hits and giving up three runs, to earn the victory. Scott Atchison (0-2) lasted 4 2/3 innings for Lancaster, giving up five runs on eight hits.
P.J. Williams had three hits for Lancaster, which had nine.
