A 67-year-old Irvine woman reported missing over the weekend has been found in the intensive care unit of a Northridge hospital where she was airlifted after suffering a seizure in a taxi, authorities said Monday.
Jane Mary Garland, who is mentally ill, reportedly left her home near Culver Drive and Sandburg Way early Sunday morning, barefoot and in pajamas. She apparently hailed a cab and went to Malibu, Irvine police said. While in the taxi, Garland suffered a seizure and the driver called paramedics.
Garland was airlifted to a hospital, but during the flight, she went into cardiac arrest, said Irvine Police Sgt. Tom Little.
Garland was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center’s Northridge campus. A nurse who saw a report on television about the missing woman notified Irvine police, Little said.
Garland was in intensive care Monday afternoon.
