Caterpillar Inc. has agreed to sponsor a farming attraction at Disney’s California Adventure, the Anaheim theme park that opens beside Disneyland in February, the companies said Monday. Terms were not released.
The Peoria, Ill., manufacturer of earth-moving equipment will sponsor Bountiful Valley Farm, a 1-acre exhibition that will include an orange grove, insect exhibits and displays of the evolution of farming.
Patrons will be able to climb aboard Caterpillar tractors, participate in a farm crafts exhibit and play in a water maze made from irrigation pipes and sprinklers.
Corporate sponsors pay Walt Disney Co. to have their names and products displayed at attractions. The long list of such sponsors at Disneyland stretches from the Monsanto House of the Future, in the park’s early days, to the current refurbishing of Autopia with help from Chevron Corp.
Attractions at Bountiful Valley Farm also will include a 3-D movie, “It’s Tough to Be a Bug,” imported from Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida, and a winemaking exhibit with restaurant and tasting room sponsored by Robert Mondavi Winery.
