RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. — Comedian Bob Hope had an optimistic prediction about his recovery Sunday just days after being hospitalized in critical condition.
“Tell them I’m winning,” Hope told Dr. Gary Annunziata, in response to the many people asking about his health.
“He continues to make big strides in recovery,” Annunziata said at a news conference Sunday. Hope’s condition was upgraded to stable Saturday, and he is scheduled to be released sometime this week.
Hope, who suffered gastrointestinal bleeding, was moved out of critical care Sunday and spent part of the day watching golf on television, Eisenhower Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Lea Goodsell said.
“He is up, walking around. There hasn’t been anything out of the ordinary,” Goodsell said.
