Economic Development Director Dave Lund said he was “guardedly optimistic” about the city’s economic health at a recent City Council meeting.
Lund said the development of the Plaza Pacifica and Marblehead Coastal projects would bring in an additional $3.2 million in sales tax revenue to the city annually.
Lund said he was concerned, however, about the city’s taxable sales per capita rating compared with the rest of Orange County.
According to an Ultra Research Inc. regional report, San Clemente had per capita sales of $6,296, ranking it 29th out of 31 cities in the county.
The per capita statistic is the city’s total taxable sales divided by the population.
