Basketball Tournament Scheduled

A men’s basketball tournament is being held June 24-25 at Chatsworth High.

The inaugural double-elimination Summer Shootout Tournament, sponsored by Fleming Athletic Co. of Van Nuys, will feature certified officials, an announcer and trophies for the first- and second-place teams.

Fleming is also sponsoring a women’s basketball tournament on July 15-16 at Chatsworth High, and plans to organize a year-round league for men and women. There will also be a nonprofit league for children.

* The Ventura College men’s basketball team is hosting a boys’ tournament with six divisions on June 17-18 as a fund-raiser for its program.

Registration fee is $275. Entry deadline is Monday.

BASEBALL

* A baseball combine is being held June 23-25 at Fiscaini Field in San Bernardino.

Former major league scout and consultant Bob Nelson will run the combine for InfoSport, a sports publishing and marketing company. The combine will include a series of tests, drills and measurements. Written reports will be faxed to baseball teams.
