* Re “A Daring Rescue Off Newport” (May 30):
What a heartwarming story of veteran lifeguard Mitch White’s rescue of the two kids. He is indeed a hero.
However another hero who was glossed over was 13-year-old Alex Anaya, who kept his little sister, Vicky, afloat all that time.
I really got a lump in my throat thinking about him all alone with her in the fog and darkness, frantically treading water all that time to keep her from going under. What a great and loyal brother.
