Narbonne High turned three double plays and defeated Van Nuys, 10-0, in six innings in a City Section Invitational baseball semifinal on Friday at Birmingham High.
The Gauchos (14-17) were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by Birmingham, but were reinstated after it was discovered a Patriots player illegally participated in a weekend semi-pro game two weeks ago.
Narbonne plays Venice (16-14) in the final on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.
Jose Avila (1-1), who was academically ineligible for the first 10 weeks, allowed three hits and struck out six in five innings.
Van Nuys (10-21) threatened in the sixth when Edgar De La Cueva doubled and Shane Mochizuki singled with none out.
But Narbonne got a fielder’s choice and a double play to end the game.
Rick Ordorica had a bases-loaded triple to highlight a four-run sixth for Narbonne.
Jose Jimenez and Jesus Romo had the only other hits for Van Nuys.
