Kids of all ages can enjoy music, animals and activities this weekend during the 18th annual Salute to Recreation Family Festival at the Northridge Recreation Center.
The event, which is free to the public, will have an international flair with a wide array of Latin music performances today along with booths representing various countries.
Kids will be able to roam through an international village where they will be given “passports” that will be stamped each time they visit a new “country.”
The festival, which began Thursday, is sponsored by the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks. It’s expected to attract from 80,000 to 100,000 people, recreation supervisor Bara King said.
“It’s an opportunity to introduce families to different forms of recreation they might not encounter,” she said. The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
The recreation center is at 10058 Reseda Blvd. For more information, call (818) 349-0535.
