Sicor Inc.’s Italian unit acquired nonexclusive licensing rights to the active pharmaceutical ingredient for vitamin B-12 for resale in Europe. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.
Irvine-based Sicor said its Sicor-Societa Italiana Corticosteroidi S.p.A. unit will purchase the active pharmaceutical ingredient from Aventis Co. S.A.’s Hoechst Marion Roussel for several years, until it is in a position to manufacture the vitamin B-12 ingredient in its Italian plants.
The pharmaceutical company expects European sales of vitamin B-12 to have an immediate positive effect on earnings.
