Lancaster Draws Blank in Modesto

The Modesto A’s turned a triple-play and Mark Seaver scattered five hits in six innings to record a 5-0 victory over the Lancaster JetHawks on Thursday night in a California League game at Modesto.
Jason Clements hit a three-run homer in the second inning for Modesto.
Freddie May and Terrmel Sledge each had two of the JetHawks’ seven hits.

Despite striking out the side in the ninth, Mike Rossiter (Burroughs) took the loss for Huntsville (Brewers) and fell to 0-4. . . . Eric Cole (Antelope Valley, Antelope Valley College) hit a grand slam for Round Rock (Astros) in a 5-1 victory over San Antonio.
Class A--Jack Cassel (Kennedy, Pierce) did not allow a hit and struck out one in two innings of relief, but got no decision and Fort Wayne (Padres) lost to South Bend, 12-4.
