The City Council will bill private property owners who had weeds removed by a city contractor. The residents were given the chance to speak against fees for the service at Tuesday’s council meeting, but none showed up to object, and the motion was approved without discussion. The fees will be added to their 2001 property taxes. The city authorized removal of weeds on 25 properties, at a total cost of $3,315, after identifying public and private areas where it deems weeds “a public nuisance.”
