Ventura County children can win prizes by participating in a clean-air campaign this summer.
“True Blue for Clean Air” is a public awareness program aimed at giving children and their parents an opportunity to learn about air quality.
The countywide campaign encourages children ages 6 to 11 to draw, color and write what they will do to help clean the air. Participants will be judged on the message, creativity and overall appeal.
Blue-ribbon winners will receive a two-day family pass to Raging Waters and an overnight hotel stay. Second-prize winners will be treated to a party at Golf n’ Stuff in Ventura. Third-prize winners will receive one free book each month for a year from Adventures for Kids bookstore.
And each participant will receive a ticket to any of six performances in the Ventura County Children’s Festival at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.
Entry forms will be available at Vons stores throughout Ventura County from Friday through Aug. 11. Artwork will be displayed in the stores through Aug. 13.
The campaign is sponsored by the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District in cooperation with Vons.
For more information, visit the agency’s Web site at www.vcapcd.org or a Vons store.
