The City Council has unanimously agreed to award a $183,000 contract to Steiny & Co. of Corona to coordinate traffic signals in the city.
During the discussion, Councilwoman Helen Wilson voiced concerns over discrepancies in the bids among the six contractors and questioned whether the firm’s work would meet the city’s needs. For one part of the job, for example, Steiny & Co. expected to spend $38,000 less than a competitor.
Robert Woodings, director of public works, assured the council that Steiny & Co.’s bid was competitive. The construction is planned to begin in late August.
