I just spent a wonderful three weeks in Australia. It is against the law in Australia to use a cell phone while driving a car, truck, SUV, etc. And yet people do survive. Business thrives. And all without using a cell phone and driving at the same time. It can be done.

Your July 20 editorial suggests that drivers not use phones or navigation equipment while driving so they can “fully scan the roadway ahead.” How does one do that when there is an SUV in front of one?
