Chamber Music Series Will Add Groups and Sites

The 2000-01 season of Chamber Music in Historic Sites will offer 25 concerts in 11 subscription series, Oct. 27 through May 13, in locations both familiar and first-time, from the Pico House near Olvera Street to the Mermaid in Topanga, the Queen Mary in Long Beach Harbor and the Corral Canyon House in Malibu.

Presented by the Da Camera Society of Mount St. Mary’s College, the series this season will introduce eight ensembles in their local debuts: from Germany, the Berlin Chamber Orchestra and the Leipzig and Auryn quartets; from the U.S., My Lord Chamberlain’s Consort and the Angelorum Bach Artists; from Canada, La Pieta string soloists and the Adaskin String Trio; and, from England, the Gould Piano Trio.

Of the 23 sites chosen for these events, nine are new to the series and include Pico House at El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument, the McCarty Memorial Christian Church on West Adams Boulevard, the new Audry and Sydney Irmas campus of the Wilshire Boulevard Temple in West Los Angeles, Church of Our Saviour in San Gabriel, the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Marina del Rey and Van de Camp Hall at Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge.
