The City Council last week approved two contracts that will help get work started at George White Elementary School’s ball field and the proposed Alicia Skate and Soccer Park.
Both plans are part of the 1998 Park and Recreation Master Plan, a document that outlines some of the priorities the city will follow over the next few years.
The project, on the west side of Alicia Parkway between Avila and El Lazo roads, will include two baseball fields, a 20,000-square-foot skate park with lighting, a plaza and a two-story building with a rental shop and restrooms. A nearby parking lot with 31 spaces also will be built.
The two contracts are worth a combined $100,000.
