6 Students Accept UCSB Scholarships

Six students from Ventura County have accepted scholarships to attend UC Santa Barbara this fall.
Each student will receive $2,000 annually for four years, as long as he or she maintains a 3.0 grade point average and takes 36 units each school year.
The local students are Lori Tai from Moorpark High School; Anthony Ferreria and Matthew Gonzalez from Channel Islands High School in Oxnard; Solange Sanhueza from Oxnard’s Rio Mesa High School; and Edwin Moraila and Erin Lane from Ventura High School.
Scholarships were offered to three qualified students, based on financial need and academic achievement, at each high school participating in UC Santa Barbara’s Early Academic Outreach Program. The program, created in 1976, aims to increase the number of minority and low-income students on UC campuses.
