Statute of Limitations Should Have Run Out

What’s up, Randy Harvey? In your July 16 column, you praised FloJo in one breath for her world record in the 1988 Olympic trials, then questioned the authenticity of the record in the same sentence. Twelve years after the 100-meter record was set you raise the issue of a malfunctioning wind gauge, stating, the record “now has something of an asterisk beside it in the record books.” In what record book? Who put it there?
That kind of innuendo attaches something of a foul-smelling odor to your praise of FloJo’s accomplishment and the sincerity of the whole column.
